Taking Tyre Recycling Up A Gear with British GT

Murfitts are once again supporting the Fox Motorsport team in the British GT Championships as it’s confirmed that drivers Mark Murfitt and Michael Broadhurst will be driving the Mercedes-AMG in the GT4 Pro-Am Category.

The sponsorship provided by Murfitts Industries to the Fox Team is dedicated to raising the awareness of responsible tyre recycling.

Discussing the partnership, Managing Director Mark Murfitts revealed why this sponsorship is key to growing the awareness of tyre recycling.

"We wanted to raise the profile of Murfitts Industries, but in a way that is intrinsically linked to the recycling service we provide for our clients. As we are the biggest recycler of UK tyres, sponsoring a team in the British GT Championship was a natural choice.”

In 2018 alone, approximately 80,000 people attended British GT races, which provides Murfitts with a huge audience to share the message of tyre recycling and grow the awareness of the current policies, which still mean many tyres are illegally recycled.

As the UK’s largest recycler of post-consumer tyres, Murfitts extract and reuse 100% of the materials salvaged, as well as providing an environmentally responsible waste solution for some of the biggest manufacturers and suppliers of tyres.

Reducing the impact end of life tyres have on our planet is at the heart of Murfitts’ operations, and why the business invests in new technologies to increase the reuse value of the waste product, generate green energy and create a circular economy.

As Managing Director, Mark Murfitt makes clear, “Our ambition is that through the publicity achieved by the racing, the public will begin to understand more about the huge benefits of tyre recycling. Very few people realise that 100% of their car tyre is recycled, with no waste going into landfill.”

With passionate motorsport fans attending the seven races over the British GT season, the Fox Sport sponsorship gives Murfitts an ideal opportunity to raise consumer awareness of tyre recycling.

The 2019 British GT Championship kicks off at Oulton Park, Cheshire on Easter Weekend (April 20-22) and comprises seven rounds with the finale at Donington Park on September 14-15.

Highlights include an overseas event at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, and a three-hour endure at Silverstone in June.

In 2018, Mark and Michael came away with a 3EI class pole and a win at Rockingham, so we have high hopes for their success this season.
